Philosophy

Early years is a critical period of time where the children develop their eagerness to learn, develop their interactive skills with others, expand their general knowledge and also to encourage their approach to the world as much as possible.

Kindergarten marks an important transition into the elementary grades, but it is vital that the kids have fun because we cannot replace their play time by forcing them to do tasks much higher than what they are capable of or based on tests to evaluate a child’s success.

KL International Kidsclub’s teaching program seeks to develop in each child a sound base of experiences, a strong sense of self-esteem, and an excitement and curiosity for learning.

Believing that children in the early education stages develop meaning through concrete encounters and experiences, the school promotes an instructional program that encourages and provides for active exploration of the child’s environment and allows for guided discovery through structured and unstructured play.

Academic skills are taught in both large and small group lessons; as much as possible, instruction accommodates individual developmental needs, abilities and interests. Cumulative portfolios of the child’s work, teacher observations, and periodic parent conferences are the means by which progress and development are assessed.

In a learn, play and discovery environment children are offered structured, unstructured and routine activities.

Play is the work of children and is essential to a child’s well-being as it brings together physical and intellectual abilities, as well as emotional health, creativity and the abilities to get along with peers and others.

KL International Kidsclub’s philosophy of “learning is fun” recognizes that each child is unique and provides each child with individual experiences in:

• Developing a feeling of confidence and positive self-image
• Learning to relate and respect other children and adults as individuals (co-operating, negotiating, and problem solving)
• Stimulating intellectual development (pre-reading, pre-writing, basic math and science concepts)
• Curiosity and understanding about their world
• Interacting with other children in group situations
• Learning the fine art of self-discipline
• Introducing and nurturing aesthetic and creative skills
• Promoting development and good co-ordination of small and large muscles
• Developing listening and language skills in various structured activities and by initiating, selecting and organizing their own play in unstructured activities
• Functioning independently
